expansion manager, ssd disk partition for sample

hello

my english is not perfect but I hope you understand me.

What do you think about it
yamaha also increase the memory for samples, and add such a function, where the user will decide on the disk capacity for the sample and expansion pack, on the basis of disk partition, where we users, we will be able to decide how much from the ssd disk, allocate free memory on expansion pack, sample and midi, styles and other files, then we will use ssd disk fully for our needs, the more that there is more and more new expansion pack on the market and there is no room for new samples in current expansion manager

Hi Paolo82,

the Mass Storage chip (on Genos a 64 GB "eMMC" chip, comparable  to an "SSD" disk of a Computer) has nothing to do with the Wave memory!

The memory IC (so called "NAND Flash") that is used for the Wave Samples of installed Expansion Voices is located near one of the two Tone Generator chips (SWP70) and has a capacity of only 2 GB. Unfortunately, this Expansion Wave memory can NOT be extended. (Another 2 GB "NAND Flash" Wave Memory IC is  located near the second Tone Generator chip and is used for the Wave samples of the internal Voices.)

More Expansion Wave memory on Genos would be great, but the current hardware limits this, unfortunately. May be that a firmware update in the future can bring a LITTLE more space of Wave memory, but certainly not too much.

It's a different type of memory. The wave samples need to be on memory that supports extremely high access rates. That's why it's more expensive :(

Your information is excellent, but I still wonder how Korg has expanded the memory for Expansion Voices through two firmware updates.
First upgrade to 800MB (or 1.5Gb when compressed).
And the upgrade to OS 3.0 is 1.5Gb (or 3Gb when compressed).
Will Yamaha's 1.4 upgrade improve Expansion Voices memory for Genos?

Hi Snicker740,

as mentioned above, the IC that is used for the Expansion Wave memory is only 2 GB. Maybe the usable space of this memory could be increased a little bit (from 1.8 GB to a mamimum of 2 GB) by a firmware update. But more than 2 GB is probably not possible when you look to the hardware (limitations). :(
