Hello and Help please.

I still am not able to figure out how to transfer an audio file over to my usb stick so can use audacity to export the file to MP3.
I have about 15 audio files on song list that i cannot delete at all  and one i want on the USB stick
I also had recorded about 15 midi files and somehow they got all lost.   Cannot figure out how to transfer those midi files to a USB
stick.   Also the folder functions are completely Greek to me.   Right now the desired audio file is on the song list and when i did
get the file to go to the usb it turned out as a PPL...  what?????  not an audio file.
I cannot figure this song operation out even though have had several members advising me at length.
At first i made a midi file of the song i wanted and then  i wanted to record it as an audio file and then transfer to audacitty.
Could not do that so went ahead and made a audio file instead.
Am completely frustrated with the O>S> for making midis and audio and putting them not only in the user but getting them over
to a usb.   Sorry for lengthy rant... Have had this machine since august.....

thanks for any directives....

cheers

Hi Ian,

Got solved during 1st 5 minutes... /  when HE JUST TOUCHED THE AUDIO FILE the File function came up... That is what i could
not achieve was to get that file function.   I subsequently tried the same thing,, JUST TOUCHED THE FILE  and the whole
file stuff came up,, successfly transfered to USB stick,,, voila.

Now will have to find out how to take a midi file and record it in the audio... to make a wav file.

This was such a big help..... will continue later on with the other issues.

Thank you so much Stign for your recent PDF instructions for taking the midi to the audio.
Just downoaded the PDF file so can attend to it later when have more time and concentration.
Am looking forward to the day that have total command of the song play (file,) operation from
start to finish.   You have been a tremendous help in that process.   Also, the more that using the
song operation is practiced than will be able to whistle through the whole thing and not MISS using the
Tyros's song system.

A work in progress
Keep climbing

Hello ,

Happy to report i completed several song manuevers .   Thanks Stign.
Completed taking a midi file and converting to the audio.
While in that operation i somehow found and retrieved 13 midi files i had made on the Genos that were resting in a file somewhere
over the rainbow.

The 13 practice midi files were successfully loaded and saved in a new folder for Genos songs.
After solving how to do the midi to audio,, i made  a new audio song and successfully copied it to the USB and stuck in the
new genos folder.    Trudging on decided to make a midi file backing for a vocal song.   Completed the midi and successuly
loaded and saved in new file.   Went back and decided to try recording a vocal over the midi, per instructions used the
audio file... Had a few glitches there (wont go into them at this time.)   The vocal audio file was successfully renamed,
copied to the USB stick and added to the new genos song list.  :) :)
Do you think i can fly a plane now?????????? ??? ??? ???

Will continue to play around with the song operation until it becomes 2nd nature.
Again thanks so much for all the wonderful coaching.

keep climbing

You're welcome Elaine.

But maybe a Drone  ;) ;) :D  or an Ultralight  ;D ;D ;D

Keep climbing, as you mentioned.

Hi Elaine,
Pleased you are getting used to your Genos. The operating system is much the same as Tyros it is using the touch screen that is different. Once you are used to it you will find it a lot easier and quicker than before. Have fun.

Hi Gloria,
Don't dread using things on Genos. Have fun with it. A piece of advice I give to many of my friends who also have other keyboards is to put those in the cupboard and forget them for a couple of months. Do everything on your Genos. This way you will get used to using it quicker and it will be very rewarding.

Hi Gloria --

I just wanted to offer encouragement. It took a little while to find things in the Genos user interface, but once I did, it's possible to get things done fast.

I found it hard to go back to the "old" interface on the S950.

Best wishes -- pj

Tyros5Mad

Hi Gloria,

Ditto on what PJD said. Once you work out how to do things on the Genos, it is much faster than the other keyboards, particularly with entering text.

Thanks so  much Eileen for your support whilst being confronted with a new OS.   Am managing to do some basic song recording
filing saving transfering operations .   I figure if all you genos owners who have years of tyros, yamaha mid arranger experience
are able to conquer it, why not me too
Thanks to several forum members have been able to get out of the non song function rut.
I have uploaded one song in the section which was quick recorded audio file that Stign helped me to transfer to the USB stick'

Am aware that have several more issues to adress but hope can evenly be spaced posted so as not to overtax your very
kind patience.     many thanks again.

Gloria,, now you have a chance to get out of the rut.. just start on this song board and get to the posted tutorials.. Stign helped
me immensely and can share his tutorial videos,, plus there are others on the web.   Conquering the song functions have opened
up new horizons and also being inspired to play this thing.    I still have some issues to be resolved, but getting down just
recording a song, filing , it playing it , making an audio and then get it the USB has been an amazing achievement.
There is a learning curve,, and maybe it is good for our senior age brains to be challenged with new material,,, keeps us
young...   There are many here to help you even on the most minutest question or problem...

Hope to hear one of your songs soon.

Thanks so much

PJ  and Richard L. for being a part of our song operation rescue unit.   We just need a push in the right direction and know
we are not along getting used to this new machine.    Have had yamahas for over 12 years using the standard song operation
system,,, multi tracking ,, the whole shebang , and now feel like moved to another country not knowing how to say hello.
duh...

Am so appreciative of all the help in mastering the song functions... Have more to go, but will post those issues later.
