Hi Folks,

Here's a great free software app for Mac and Windows.

https://pro.riffstation.com/features_page/

I regularly used the web site for getting song chords and lyrics. Apparently the site is shutting down but they are giving the desktop app away for free. Get it while you can.

Regards, Richard

I wonder why they want my email address if they are giving it away for free. I mean just let me download it.

This is pretty much what we can already do with our on board Wav Record that comes with the Keyboard. The chords I can find on the internet and they are better than 80 percent correct.

If I get really stuck I head over to this site and look at the sheet music. The whole thing is free to look at.

Thank you. I think I had the "lite" version, so it's nice to be able to grab the "pro" version for free. I'm pretty sure they already had my email address from when I'd downloaded the "lite" version for free.

Thank you for the download link, Richard !  :D

Hi Richard,

Thanks very much for the heads up. :)

Riffstation belongs to fender guitars.
They want the e-mail just send advertisments-offers for guitars,T shirts and things like that.
I have the full version  since they disabled the on line chord tool.
It is a nice program.
I double check for the exact and right chords between sheets, midis, riffstation, internet, covers,my ears etc,

They offered it for free, but likely will make more money selling your information to other online marketers and not just for music related type. I don't want anymore spam in my email inbox than I already have.

Richard. Link appreciated...but I don't give my details away any more...to many emails sold, that's why we are bombarded with Ads.

Richard,
thanks i will download.

I have the older version, so, i will update to this newer version.

I do not mind providing my email because i have several email addresses that i use for different purposes.   I have one email address that i use for 'junk' advertisement and i do not mind providing it.  That is the main reason i created it . . .  for junk advertisement.

thanks

Thanks Richard, Great to have this as a desktop program. Works well!

Yamaha has a nice chord recognition app too the "Chord Tracker" - you can find more information about it here:

That explains why I've been getting ads and newsletters about Fender guitars and amps and such for the last year or two, because I didn't remember signing up for anything like that, and it's been about that long ago that I originally downloaded Riffstation.

I already get a ton of emails from various music stores, music-related websites, manufacturers of keyboards and MIDI controllers, makers of DAWs and soft synths and sample libraries, etc.— all of which I specifically signed up for— and I've got filters set up to send each email to the appropriate folder when it's received. It's easy enough to glance at and then delete each email, or just delete it without bothering to look at it first, or even delete the entire contents of a folder.

So I have no issues with getting emails about guitar-related products, even if there's no chance I'll ever buy a guitar. Who knows, I might want to buy a bass guitar amp for my keyboards some day?

hahaha Michael...
Well, everyone can always unsubscribe through his e-mail from getting adds and newsletters from whatever company he is not interested.
That doesn't mean that they don't still have his e-mail in their database as Graham said
and they know that these e-mails belong to amateurs or pro musicians.

I would like just to express a small complaint about Yamaha's apps and say that
maybe some people like to buy more expensive stuff (e.g better keyboards) because they have fatures that for them worth the extra money
but they don't like to buy more expensive devices that they have features that they don't care about or don't use them and in 2-3 years they will be  concidered to be "old" and "slow" anyway.

ios is better than android but how much is the price for a..."cheap" i-pad?  :-[
Is it worth to buy a device just to connect it to my keyboard and take advantage of Yamaha's applications?

Let's hope this is going to change someday. :)
