What a great forum... with lots of tips and tricks!

Hello everyone, I'm JazzGuy from Denmark, and this is my first posting.
I've had my Genos for a couple of weeks and I'm still over the moon!
I do have a question that someone might know the answer to :

I save my favourite voices to the 10 Registration Banks and when I play music I choose what style I'd like to play. That works fine.

Now,.. is there a way that I can save a modified style like "CoolPianoJazz" where I have changed voice 2 and 4 to something I like. I mean save the style to my USER folder?
- I can't seem to get this to work.

Thank you in advance.

Sure.

First, User is a drive, not a folder. You can have lots of folders in your User drive.

To modify the OTS of a style, you load the OTS, select the voice(s) you want, then press Memory>OTS#. As soon as you do, the keyboard will inform you that the style has changed, and ask whether you want it saved. Select Yes. You're immediately given the User drive, where you select Save Here to save your file.

Finally, you can have a lot more than 10 registrations. Many of us have hundreds, if not thousands, of registrations. To get more you save the bank of 10 registrations as a file. Select the registration (top of the main screen), and you will be given the same type of screen where you can name and save the bank. Then create a new one.

One tip I would give is that a lot of people get confused when they use both OTS and registrations. Most of us use one of the other, but not both. There's nothing in an OTS that can't be stored in a registration. The most common use for registrations is to store all the settings needed for a song, then name the registration after the song. For more ideas, see my registration videos (link in signature).

Hi Jazz Guy,
Not quite sure if you are wanting to change voices in the style or OTS. If in a style firstly select the voices you want in the style using the mixing console. It is now a good idea to try it. If it is OK then go to Style Creator. Now just press SAVE at the top of the page and select where you want it. It will now be a User style as you have altered the on board one.

Fred Smith... You made my day :)

Thank you for a very informative explanation. This is just what I needed. I'll take a close look at your Registration Lessons when I can drag myself away from the Genos! There's a lot of goodies for a newbie like me. (My former keyboard was an old psr1500).

I understand now that switching between Reg. Presets and OTS User presets can be a problem. For instance : my reg. bank nr. 10 is an airy type of preset ( harp + a Pad sound ), that uses the Sustain buttom. After playing with this preset I load my new user style I have saved, called "CoolPianoJazz_edited" and now all of my 4 voices have the sustain effect :-(

I believe that most OTS factory presets don't appeal to me, because there is always one or more voices I would like to change. So maybe I should start creating new Registration Banks where all settings is stored, instead. And I find it is much easier to make small changes to Reg Banks presets. What do you recommend?

EileenL : "It will now be a User style as you have altered the on board one. "
- does that mean I have overwritten the factory setting? Nah...?
Thank you for your input. I still have a lot to learn about the Genos.

What a friendly music forum. And my language is music :-)

No, you can never alter a preset style. If you modify a style, you have to save it as a new style, and by that it has become a so called user style. I believe most people use registrations to set up the style and voices for their songs. They then name the registration with the name of the song. I mostly use modified styles, name them with the name of the song, and put them in folders such as "Christmas Gig." You can make more changes in registrations. For instance, I had a song where I wanted the sustain button to turn on and off. That could not be saved in the OTS, but it was no problem to do it in a registration.

I still have my PSR 2100, the big brother of the 1500. I really love that keyboard! :)

When altering a style be it voicing or OTS it is then saved as a user style. The on board style can never be altered so it is always there should you need to go back to the original.
