Windows update broke CASM editor, etc. shortcuts

Hi Jorgen --

Somehow, the last Windows update broke the icons for your programs (e.g., CASM editor, split/splice, etc.) I believe that the update rebuilt my desktop. The Java app will not launch and the failure is totally silent, i.e., no error alert box or message.

If I create a new shortcut icon with, for example:

C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath\javaw.exe -jar "C:\Program Files (x86)\CASM Editor\CasmEditor.jar"

the Java app launches correctly.

Weird. I'm running the most recent version of CASM editor and split/splice and the most recent Java release (1.8.0_181).

Thought I should mention this (minor) issue.

Just tried uninstalling CASM Editor and re-installing it. That made the desktop icon issue go away.

I wish I could have root caused this thing...

BTW, a suggestion or two. I noticed that Split/Splice insists on finding the "SFF1" marker as the first MIDI event in the style SMF. SONAR is not so careful about event placement. I used Mixmaster to juggle the "SFF1" marker into first place. Then, split/splice was happy.

Seems like Split/splice should be lenient, i.e., maybe give a just warning and split the style file anyway. Maybe make the "SFF1" check optional?

Also, I was hoping that Style Fixer would repair the problem. No joy. Maybe one feature to add to Style Fixer is repairing the placement of the "SFF1" and "SInt" markers.

I'm finally upgrading to Cubase Artist with its list editor. Maybe I can get more precision over MIDI event placement with Cubase Artist. Still waiting on Steinberg to ship that %%#&*(*)(^$ dongle. They're out of them!

I have the same problem, the solution is to reinstall it and get the icon manually on you desktop.

I guess that the "Environment Variables" in Windows has been renamed / changed in the windows update process. This will explain why the "old" short cuts are broken.

The installation program will find the path to the java engine and put this into the short cut link.

I guess the only way to fix this problem is a re-install...

Sorry for this problem, but it is beyond my control...

I will look a little deeper into the problem next week...

Thanks! I totally understand. I went into my usual "Microsoft rage mode" when it happened. Back on the job in the day, seems like Microsoft broke something with every release/update.    

Reinstall is good enough for me. I've always found your work to (un)install easily and cleanly.

Strange enough the jar file was completely lost and reinstal wasn't good enough, I had to get the jar file manually on to the desktop and change the icon.

I know you can help it but it's strange it happened.
