Hello to all,

Obviously there is no section dedicated to the Yamaha DJX, but I thought that maybe PSR E geeks might know something about this peculiar keyboard.

1 - There is one for sale near were I live. Which is the maximum amount (in Euros) I should reasonably give for it?
2 - Is the keyboard touch sensitive?
3 - Is the GM set of voices readily accessible in the case I'd like to use this keyboard as a regular keyboard? On the other hand, can all the weird effects onboard be applied to the GM voices as well?
4 - I bet not but just in case, is there any way to import external styles I to this keyboard?
5 - Last but not least, can the Mike input be used for regular singing or is it just meant for sampling?

Thanks for helping,

Regards,

Vinciane

Those are interesting questions! I suppose you could get answers to some of them by looking at the owner's manual, but there used to be a forum member who had either a DJX or DJX-II, and if he's still around then he could probably answer any questions. Sorry, but I forget who it was.

I had a DJX-II a bunch of years ago. Fun little keyboard, but my style of music shifted and I ended up selling it. I don't remember too much of the details about it, but know it didn't have aftertouch. The DJX-II was sort of limited for MIDI capabilities also as I remember, not sure about the DJX.

Info and manual can be downloaded here...

Ok thanks to both of you I will look into the manual.

I had a DJX many years ago, my first ever keyboard (after some organs) and did not like it at all. Can't remember details. It had only 'dance' type and some old school styles and a cheap sound. Don't think you can load any extern styles but not sure. Gave it away and had a 550 after.

Thanks Dick,

I suppose the PSR E463 would probably be a smarter buy, it has many of the features of the DJX and then some, as well as plenty of styles and great sounds for all genres of music and not just Dance.
