Hi,
I have realised during my performances in my friends group that nobody is interested if I sing a full  song while playing keyboard. They would rather listen it on a karaoke track. It is only interesting to them if a make a medley of songs and sing it.

So planning to make few medleys. Wanted tips for it and clarity on certain points.

1) is it better to stick to one style and it's 4 variations or change them
2) Same tempo songs ?
3) Can I change pitch of different songs
4) how long , how many songs it should ideally be
5) can I change even beat pattern- say from 4/4?to 6/8 in between

Regards

Anand

Stick with the same style and tempo, use different variations, sing some and use instrumentals in others. Works for me! :)

I like to do medleys of songs that have similar or related titles, like Stars Fell On Alabama and Moonlight In Vermont.  I guess this is mostly for my own amusement but it's a real kick when audience members pick up on it.

It don't mean a thing...

Hi Anand,
When I do medleys, I find changing keys does keep the medley more interesting. For example, in a medley of 4 songs, I would change keys for the last 2 songs.
