GREAT NEWS! Thanks to my good friends on PSR TUTORIAL & KEYBOARD PLAYERS ,I just received a call from Yamaha Support who I contacted about my problems with our local Guitar Center & my disappointing purchase of my new Genos!  They are sending me the missing music rack, brackets, owners manual  & everything else that my local Guitar Center wouldn't provide me with! Thank you all for your help & suggestions; this has meant so much to me!   ;D

Hi Gloria

You have had a rough deal there and Yamaha should wipe that Guitar centre off the map.
You should of taken that company to task and demanded a refund and gone elswhere.
Hope you have consumer rights where you live.
Great to hear that you are out of the woods now.

all the best
John :)

Hello Gloria,
I am so pleased you have got things sorted out. You can now begin to start enjoying a great keyboard.

EVERYONE THANKS FOR YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT!  Yamaha has the 3 speakers for the Genos on back order, so I had to buy a Behringer keyboard amp for $250 from Guitar Center to be able to hear my Genos!  I might not be "out of the woods yet!"   :-\

GC had a pretty liberal return policy that last time I checked, and I believe it is 45 days on amps, but could be 30. If you manage to get those Yamaha speakers, you can always return the Behringer to GC for a full refund. Check it out! :)

Love ya,

Hi  Gloria,,

Glad you pursued this issue with Yamaha Support.
I think the Behringers were issued a few months back when you got the machine.   Perhaps you can also recieve compensation
for that purchase as it was only because the other speakers were not available.
It really is good to know and reasurring that Yamaha is true to the nomenclature   "SUPPORT"

Enjoy your keyboard and hope to get back to you about any plans to be in Phoenix this fall.
Stay cool

cheers

Congratulations Gloria good news that your problems with Genos and GC are over.

So sorry that you had problems from the dealer you bought your Genos from.  Such poor service warns others to steer clear of this dealer.  Yamaha has come to your aid
and fixed your problems. That is a reliable and dependable source. Enjoy a great keyboard now.     Regards, Lloyd

Del

Congrats Gloria in getting it sorted and on the way to having a fab time exploring your new Genos,
As Lloyd pointed out such poor service warns others to steer clear of such dealers, and as there are approx. 5000 members in this forum
alone it won't be long before other music forums will know of such poor service that in the end could ruin these dealers because of their lack of interest to the customer service
over making money.

viva voce can make or brake a company

DEL, I appreciate your message, but I'm afraid it isn't over yet. (Please read my next post)

Hi Everyone,  I just called our local Guitar Center to find out if they actually ordered the 3 speakers for my Genos.  They said they were on back order & have no idea how long it will take!  >:(  Plus the music rack that arrived today doesn't fit into the slots on the Genos!  Evidently Yamaha doesn't know there's another attachment that goes in first & then the music rack (that's what I've been told-- why doesn't Yamaha know?)

Hi Gloria,

The 'Yamaha' that does not know about the music rest brackets was the customer support person who works for Yamaha but does not own a Genos.  So that person did not know to ship the music rest brackets to you when shipping you the Genos music rest.  The Genos music rest brackets come with the original package of Genos, whereas the Genos music rest itself is an orderable stand-alone replacement item.

When you contact Yamaha, please mention that you never received the 2 music rest brackets in the Genos package as shown on P.20 of Genos Owner's manual (version D) and request them to ship you 2 Genos music rest brackets:

Thanks,
Paul

Gloria - The Genos you purchased from Guitar Center - Was it "used"????? IF it was brand new, those "missing" items should have been in the box, on the bottom, underneath the keyboard .... Did the box appear to be "opened" but, taped shut? AS if, the Genos was previously out of the box, and they put it back in the box, taped it shut?

It "almost" sounds like you may have purchased a previously returned item ... It's very unusual to find those primary parts, missing .... AT LEAST, though, you got that straightened out and will receive whatever you need in a few days from Yamaha....

I, however, would be more concerned about the possibility that you purchased a "returned" keyboard, and they turned around and resold it to you at FULL cost ... especially if you were not aware of that fact.... I would NOT put it past Guitar Center (ANY of them) to pull something like that....

They "want" you to buy whatever is hanging on the wall - BUT, all the punks go in there and mess with all those guitars ... and technically ... they are NOT NEW anymore ... not when people can come in and grab them off the wall and sit down and play them for hours! Not any different than me coming home from work, taking my guitar out of the case, and playing it for a while ... and then putting it back in the case...

So ... for that matter. I always ask for a NEW one in the box ... take it home ... try it out ... and if I don't like it ... bring it back... no problem....

IF you wanted to, Gloria - You, technically, could take that keyboard back ... return it ... and tell them, you want a NEW one that includes ALL of the pieces .... OTHERWISE, give you your money back....

Thanks, 8t8KEEZ. OK, I'll post (one of) my Guitar Center horror stories. I ordered a Yamaha MOX6 on-line for customer pick-up at the brick and mortar store. When I arrived, they tried to sell me a floor model with half of the knobs missing on the front panel. The purchase was for a new keyboard and they tried to give me this. The guy claimed, "Oh, our inventory shows this keyboard as new." I demanded and received a new MOX6 in a sealed box. And, rest assured, I examined that sealing tape very carefully.

I have to stop at this point because this is a family-oriented forum and I don't need to re-live the stress.  :)

Gloria, my heart, encouragement and support go out to ya! You go, girlfriend!!!!!  :)

The other thing to be wary of with a used (and sometimes demo depending on the stores definition of demo) is the manufacturers warranty may not be valid, only the store warranty if any. The condition (new, demo, used, refurbished, etc) of the purchase should be clearly stated on the sales receipt. I don't know if Yamaha includes warranty cards any longer or they just rely on online registration of a product.

8t8KEEZ

Mark! THAT is a GREAT point! Never thought of that... NEVER!

EileenL

You have to register your keyboard on line at the Yamaha site for your Warrantee. Instructions do come with the keyboard.
