Greetings to you all.

Any advice with converting from Korg to Yamaha styles would be much appreciated

Due to acccident I had about 4 weeks ago I am having difficulty playing the keyboard at the moment.
So I am spending more time on the computer.

I am making  korg styles from a lot of music that I have  on   commercial music CDs.

I use  "Riff Station" to make a wav file of the  CD music, then convert it into a midi using various  other free software.

Some midis don't sound that brilliant. I think the original music with strong vocals are the problem.

Then using a  Korg PA4X I convert the midi into a style.
the PA4X has a built in program to do that.

What I have  a problem with, is  converting a Korg style into a Yamaha style, which I can then use on a Tyros2 and 4.
I have been using "Style Works 2000 Universal" with very limited results.

thank You.

Have you checked this page?

http://psrtutorial.com/sty/keyboards/korg.html

Yes I have.  And have all those styles.
Not sure how that page  helps with the actual conversion from Korg to Yamaha styles.
thanks.

After I have converted to a wav file with "Riff Station" I  use "Intelliscore Polyphonic WAV to MIDI Converter" to make the midi.  you can download trial but it only allows 30 seconds to be played. the full version will cost you $129.00.

"Amazing Midi" is totally free  but wont do a good job if there is strong vocals in the  wav file.
you can get rid of the voice in  many software programs available but most don't work very well.
I am experimenting with "BB" . "Fruity Loops" , "Ableton Live Suite 8" ,  "Cubase"  and "MIDI File Splitter" which is included in "Cakewalk" to try and get rid of vocals completely.

I have been informed that Apples "Garageband"  is good at removing vocals.
Unfortunately it is a Mac program only, But One can  use an emulator to make your PC think it is a Mac.

I have been told to  use  iPadian Emulator.
Has anyone had any success at removing vocals using  "Garageband"?

Thanks

here is a link on running VMWare to emulate Mac OS on Windows PC.

Guets are not allowed to view links. In order to access the links, please Register or Login

Not sure if it is free . . .

Please inform of progress . . . . . i would be interested in learning how to take an MP3 and remove vocals.

I guess you would have to go MP3 to WAV to Midi to Style

thanks

thank you for that. I can download it through the link(No:-1) you gave.(google drive) and it is free.

Trying to download through apple is useless. I am hooked into apples UK and US store and it is not available from either.
I note that it states to run on Windows 10 which I found is not very good and I will not use. I will try to run it on  win 7, Win 8.1 and Win Xp.

The latest version of "Audacity" has a new effect now called "removing vocals"
Not very good. The best I could do with it was running the wav file  through 3 times, saving and reloading in between and nearly got rid of vocals but makes the rest of the audio very muddy.
Will keep you informed
regards,
Mike.
