Safe way of packing a keyboard for sending it

Hello everybody,

I have finally found a second-hand PSR E433 which suits my needs of a cheap, light portable keyboard on top of my not-so-portable DGX 650.

Since the owner of this keyboard is living hundreds of miles away from where I live, he is willing to send it by post or UPS or whatever to my home.

Unfortunately, he has long since disposed of the original packaging (the PSR E433 was in the shops about 5 years ago) and he hasn't a clue as how to pack the keyboard and its accessories (charger,  music stand, sustain pedal) so that it comes safely to my home.

Has someone some suggestions as to do this?

Thanks for helping,

Best Regards,

Vinciane.
Past keyboards: PSR E313, PSR E413, PSR E433, PSR S550, DGX 640, upright piano.
Now: DGX 650, Casio CT-X800.

I have shipped several keyboards with varying results.  The safest , but most expensive way is to have the shipper pack it and insure it, especially when the original carton and special padding is gone.  I still have a claim with UPS pending where I packed it myself and they dropped it.

Load and LOADS of bubble in a solid cardboard box. That's how mine was shipped from Europe to Indonesia. FRAGILE ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!!

The local Bicycle shop receives their bikes in a cardboard box that may be modified to work.  They toss them out.
I  would also pack the pedals, manuals, power supply etc in a separate box to make life easier, and prevent damage to the keyboard.

Hi Bernie, Dick and Jerry.

Thanks for your input.

The package will be insured in any case, this is already settled.

Unfortunately in France the carrier will not take care himself of the packaging.
As for the packaging itself, the original box is long since gone. The bubbles are a good idea, as is the idea of packaging the accessories separately.

Morality: always keep the original cardboard somewhere safe, it might come handy even a few years later if you want to send a keyboard somewhere.

Best Regards to all,

Vinciane.

Hello to all,

PSR E433 will be packed tonight by previous owner and shipped tomorrow. It is due to arrive at my home Wednesday or Thursday (since next Monday is a holiday here in France).

When it'll arrive I'll upload some photos of the packaging (and of the keyboard).   :)

Thanks again for helping,

Hello guys,

The package containing the PSR E433 arrived this morning in good shape. Apparently the previous owner did a very good job at packing it. I attach hereby some photograph of the packaging and of the keyboard itself.

Thanks again for helping,

Vinciane.
