Strange behaviour on Genos Rock Sax .....Resolved

Hi all ,
I used the SA Rock Sax in my T4 a lot.
To activate the growl you have to move the modulation wheel up.
Then you can play soft or growl.
It is different from the new SA Tenor Sax.
On the Genos I noticed a strange thing: When I move the modulation wheel up and hold it, it ads a strange constant vibrato to the SA Rock Sax  :(
It makes it unplayable for me.
The T4 did not ad vibrato. It just activated the growl when the keys are struck harder.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Eric

BTW the SA Rock Sax is now in the legacy folder  ;)

Eric, I wish I could be of more assistance with this, but I believe that the modulation wheel should be turned down, and that sax voice is touch sensitive in that the harder you hit the key, the more effects are triggered on the growl sax, which is the way is was with my old PSR-3000.

Give it a try,

Hi Gary,
Thank you for your reply.
The T4 had a feature where you could select a SA voice and then hit info.
It explained how the SA Voice is triggered and can be used.
It said Modulation wheel up.
I have always done that without problem on my T4 and S-970

Hi Eric, I'm assuming you refer to Rock Sax1.
You can almost eliminate the vibrato put in (through having to move the lever up) by going to the Voice editor's Controller "Modulation +" page and reducing the  LFO pitch values to Zero. Save the voice as a user.
Alternatively you could use the first legacy Growl Sax instead. It will growl with high velocity without needing the intervention  of the lever.

Wow John,
You are a life saver.
It worked.
Many Thanks  :D ;D ;)
I really appreciate it.

Thanks for the feedback Eric, you're welcome.
You might be able to use the SA2 Funk Alto or Tenor Sax sometime in future. They both growl on high velocity (and no modulation) .

Hi John,
I actually do use the SA2 Tenor Sax and SA2 Alto Sax for certain songs.
I have modified both voices to trigger the growl sooner.
However there are only a couple of songs where the SA Rock Sax is a better fit for me:
Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty and Urgent by Foreigner.
The main reason is that I sing in a different key and it makes the SA2 Tenor Sax either to low or to high.
The SA Rock Sax works perfect. ;)
Again; Many thanks for the fast response.

Hello friends :) I got curious about how they get the growl on the real sax, so I looked up some YouTube videos on it. And thanks for the tips about growl sax on the keyboards :) I have to practice that :)

Thanks for the tips! I'll bet that these sax voices alone have sold a lot of Yamaha arranger keyboards. They are just a scream to play.  ;D

The growl is achieved by humming into the horn as you play. This was also done with a harmonica by one of the Harmonicats.
