Dusan ,

As you have loaded a style file in MixMaster the file that is passed to Cubase is MMaster.sty.

I don't know if cubase can open files with extension .sty.
Could you please try that and let me know ?

Problem is still whay Cubase dont want to open Style file like Midi

I supose like you say, Cubase has a problem with 'Command line arguments'

Hm....

Dusan,

I am a bit confused with your last answer.
Is there a difference with a .mid file or a .sty file loaded in Mixmaster and you call Cubase ?

Etienne,

there was a diference:
If I try to inport Style or Midi file directly from some folder then
Cubase open file's in both cases...

If I try to open Midi file from Mix Master then Cubase allso inport that file.
Diference is when I try to open Syle file from Mix Master. In that case
Cubase dont want to open that file....It's look's like Cubase dont know in wich
folder is that MMaster file...

Dusan,

Thanks for the report.
I will examine the MixMaster's procedure for calling when style file is loaded.
If a solution is found I will incorporate it in the next version that i am working on.

The 'command line argument' is working because you tell me that  it works with a .mid file in MixMaster.

PS. did you receive my PM ?

Hi Dusan,

I have realised that in MixMaster, if you set Cubase as the 'goto' program in one of the boxes headed 'Midi or Style program with/without OTSCasm Editing', then when you press 'Goto', the file that is saved to the AppData/Roaming folder has the same extension as the actual file type loaded i.e. 'MMaster.mid' if a MIDI is loaded or 'MMaster.sty' if a style is loaded.

However if you set Cubase up in the 'PSRUTI or pgm with no OTS/Casm reading or editing' box, the file that is saved in the  AppData/Roaming folder will always have a MIDI extension (MMaster.mid), even if the loaded file is a style.

I saw in a screenshot in one of your replies that you have used the first 'Midi or Style program with/without OTSCasm Editing' box for Cubase which presumably is why the 'transfer' file is being saved with a '.sty' extension.  So try using the PSRUTI box for Cubase to see if that helps.

I must say though that I have tried this myself, and although a '.mid' file is produced for the transfer and Cubase opens at the main screen, the file is still not loaded!  However I have other problems with Cubase, so this  may be something to do with whatever else is going on with my setup.  I can't get any sound from imported MIDIs even though I can see activity on the channels when playing the file! Imported audio files play OK, and the previous version of Cubase that I had on the very same computer and OS (Win 7) worked fine with imported MIDIs!

Dusan

Etienne,

here is a little exsemtion who I dont say jet.
If I want to open Style file directly from some folder
then I must navigate Cubase to se All files in that folder.
From defolt Cubase see only Midi extention files.
Maby that is the general problem...?

Thank you for your time and suport

Ian,

I haw the same problems. It's looks like you must first create an project with all atributs
(In-Out ports in all chanels) and then inport your file in that project.
In the midle of all problems allso dont know how to edit Effect in Cubase and more...

Cubase is a good program but extremly dificult to learn how to handle..

The reason Cubase isn't importing the file is because you don't have the Cubase command line in the correct box in MixMaster. When I placed it in one of the "with/without" boxes, it would not work. In order to get it to work I had to put it in the second box which says "PRSUTI." I'm not sure of the reasons why, but my guess is that "with/without" means the program in question can either handle CASM or not so MixMaster will go ahead and send it, whereas if you use the second box that mentions PRSUTI then MixMaster will omit the CASM section and use a MID extension.

Dusan

Hi Michael.

I dont thig that is a problem. In my opinian problem is cos Cubase looking for mid. extention files in Roaming folder in Mix Master.
If we load Midi file to MM that problem to inport dont exist. Can be open with no problem.Cubase dont recognize file wth sty. extention by defolt inport option...

Yes Dusan, but as I said in my last reply, if you place Cubase in the 'PSRUTI' box in MixMaster, the file that is produced when you press 'GoTo' and select Cubase will always have a '.mid' extension, even if the file loaded in MixMaster is a style!  If you use the PSRUTI box, the file placed in the MixMaster roaming folder (on my system 'C:\Users\Ian\AppData\Roaming\Michael P. Bedesem\MixMaster') will always have the name 'MMaster.mid', whether it originates from a MIDI or a style!

If you use the other boxes, then the extension of the file produced will depend on the type of file loaded.  So if you have used any of these boxes, and you have a MIDI file loaded in MixMaster, the 'transfer' file will have a '.mid' extension.  However if you have a style loaded in MixMaster, the transfer file will have a '.sty' extension which Cubase doesn't seem to want to open.

If you say that you can get the transfer to work with MIDI files, then surely it is worth trying it with styles by using the MixMaster PSRUTI box instead of the one that you are currently using.

I said stated back on February 26 that the only way I could get the style to import from MixMaster into Cubase was to use the second ("PRSUTI") box:

http://www.psrtutorial.com/forum/index.php/topic,43315.msg342235.html#msg342235

I also mentioned putting the command line in the second box on February 27 in my step-by-step list. I didn't understand why this was necessary, but Ian's explanation makes sense. The "with/without" wording above the other boxes seemed confusing to me, which was why I had originally thought that I could use any of those boxes. I'm not even sure I remember what finally prompted me to try using the second box instead, but I did it as a sort of last-ditch attempt since using the third box just wouldn't work as I thought it would.

Thak's Guy's

I am allredy change Obtion box in Mix Master to PSRUTI and  work's like a charm...
Cubase open loadet style file and give me a chance to edit Midi track's.So far sems

Dusan,

For saving the file :
File - Export - Midi
then go to the desired folder and save as MMaster.mid (when you use option Goto2).

In attachment you find a picture of how MixMaster uses the 5 Goto options.

Etienne,

The problem is NOT with MixMaster, it is with Cubase.  Cubase does not "Open" a MIDI file... it "Imports" a MIDI file.  Apparently code for Import is a different routine than Open.

I use Go To all the time in MixMaster with several different programs and they all work. It is only programs like Cubase that have a problem.

Hi Joe,

I know that it is not Mixmaster.
I use it also with several programs without any problem.
I made that scheme only as info for the users, so they know exactly what MixMaster does when a midi or style file is loaded and they call an external program.

Today I have tried the Cubase Element 9.5 trial version.
An i was able to load the midi part of the style file and I was also able to save the file with the file-export-Midi.
But as Michael mentioned you need to use the second Goto option (PSRUti).

SeaGtGruff

The folder you want to save in was listed in my step-by-step instructions, although you'll have to use your computer user name where it says "yourusername." You just need to save the new file over the old file (i.e., same file name). You don't need to save the Cubase project, since the next time you want to work on the file some more it will get exported from MixMaster and imported into Cubase all over again. :)

EDIT: I was just going to copy the folder path into this post, but looking back over my step-by-step instructions I saw something I'd forgotten about, which is that you need to make sure a particular box is unchecked or it will not export everything. So rather than quote from that post, I'll just link to it:

https://www.psrtutorial.com/forum/index.php/topic,43315.msg342582.html#msg342582

vlbrgt

Dusan ,

That is correct.
It MUST be a .mid file that you save in Cubase (When you use the second Goto option - PSRUti).
Back to MixMaster , Mixmaster will reload the midi part of the style and rebuilds the style with the received midi part from Cubase and the Casm from the loaded style.

Michael,

I know that, but Exsported file has mid.extention and Inported file has sty.extention.
I am talking about second box option for Go to function.I am allredy try that, but MM
automaticaly  save first loadet style file and ignor Exported file with mid.extention.
