Genos case help needed

I'm down to choosing between two cases for my Genos.  I like the weight of the soft case but feel the hard shell affords more protection and is heavier.  I gig twice a week....keyboard rides in covered pickup bed.

Which would you choose? And why?  Please speak your mind whether you have a case or not.

I have the Gator soft bag which I had for my T5 and fits the Genos okay. I find it great for gigs, but then I put it on the back seat of my vehicle. It seems well padded and much cheaper on Amazon than from Gator. Hope this helps.

I have the soft case from Gator for my S970. Hard shell cases are heavier, but if you intend to fly with it, you must have it. Or rather, don't fly with it! I have seen how they treat our luggage! If you gig twice a week I guess weight will matter. After all, you have to carry it to the venue and back to the car, and then in your house. Enjoy your Genos :)

I have gigged 4-6 times weekly for the past 12 years using only a well padded
soft case without wheels for my keyboards.  I have yet to have a damaged keyboard with this setup.   Unless you are traveling by public bus or plane I think the hard shell cases are overkill.  I have had my cases custom made by Blue Heron - not cheap but worth the money.

29 pounds vs less than 10 . . . .. ?

for me that makes a big difference .. . . .   i would go with the lighter one, except if you are traveling by plane very often.

For me the other consideration would be wheels, . . . .i wish the lighter model would have wheels, i would buy it . . . .

Tx all.  I do like the weight of the lighter case.  However, what concerns me is riding in my pickup box...it won't be riding in a car.

The hard shell case makes me feel more secure.  I've been gigging with a PA4X in an SKB hardshell case....55lbs total.  The Genos and hard shell would be about 60lbs.

I'm not sure what I'll do yet.  But your responses have been really helpful.

Deane, how's the weather down there?  Been two months of below freezing temps here in Paul Bunyan land.

I'd probably go for the lighter "gig bag" - 29 lbs. plus the keyboard equals "too heavy for what I want to carry around".

I'm actually considering this one; it has wheels and is a <10 lb. gig bag:

How about this :
Can you put a nice thick blanket in your pick up and then use a soft case?
That could work ..... ;)

for me this is a great option. However, it looks that company does not ship to USA.   I could not find USA on their list.  Interestingly, Canada is listed but no USA.

I was able to find the same bag with a USA distributor.   but now The other question of course is if it would fit the 76key Genos because the bag you listed is the 61-76 keys with wheels.  They only have the 76-88 keys with wheels in USA. . . . the 61-76 they offer does not have wheels which for me is the main point.

Here is what I found for Fusion bags in US:
https://www.fusion-bags.com/pages/stores-in-the-usa

The "11" model has these dimensions (interior):
1270 x 520 x 215 mm / 50 x 20.47 x 8.46 ins

I think that is too big actually.  The Model "10" is:
1195 x 470 x 220 mm / 47.05 x 18.50 x 8.66 ins

Raleigh, NC, USA / Genos / Tyros5-61 / Lucas Nana 600 / other stuff

zionip

Dimensions of Genos is:  1234 x 456 x 138 mm / 48.56 x 17.94 x 5.44 in.

So model "10" (1195 x 470 x 220 mm / 47.05 x 18.50 x 8.66 in) is too small for Genos, model "11"  (1270 x 520 x 215 mm / 50 x 20.47 x 8.46) is the closest size for Genos.

I clicked on the U.S. stores that carry the Fusion bags, but could not find any stores carrying model "11".  All of them carry models 12, 14, 15, and 16, which are all too big for Genos.

Thanks,
Paul

Are these fusion dimensions interior or exterior dimensions?  Or, does that even matter given it is a soft case?

Found it. Looks like this is the best fit Fusion bag.

Great.  I wonder if it will fit Genos.  Their picture shows a Tyros 5.

I use the Thomann PVC cases, they are light weighted, but protects the instrument perfectly, much better, than a soft case could do. Possibly they are a little heavier, but everytime I received the case, I thought "Did they do wrong? Did they send me a keyboard bag instead?", because the box wasn't heavy.
You can save money and buy the cases, that they made for Genos or spend a little more money and decide, that it may have another color (that's helpful, when you use a twin set and so you are not confused).

I'm sticking with the official SCC Yamaha bag/case.
Very expensive, but at least has extras, like a bag for the rest, and detachable bag on side.
And from Thomann, who offer a great Service.
Shame not available in US easily. Folks should complain to Yamaha.

I just wrote to Yamaha asking about the SCC Genos case being available in USA.  I'll post their response when I hear back ...

Anybody seen this for sale anywhere?

I have this keyboard bag for a while , and the genos fits nice , But i didnt neet the extra ad on "Bags" , it makes the whole case to heavy
if you put al your bits and pieces in it . , better a extra bag ore little suitcase . quality is good enough, but not for use as a fligtcase ( to flex)
and the price is much to high when you look at the same size bags .( i got it for 50% - :-) )
For the Tyros i had a lightweigt "Hardcase" that weights 4Kg , but the company who made this cases doesnt exsist anymore (factory from Poland), they where excelent .

Gloria,

Tx for commenting.  You're about the only one so far giving a hard case a 5humbs up.

Biggs,

Liked the unboxing video.

How is it handling the Gator case with the Genos inside?  Weighs how much?  About 60lbs?

LOL Never stopped to weigh it!

The thing I think I like most about the case is that on one end there are inline skate wheels, so you can just drag or push it around.
