Genos and PA4X

I've owned and frequently gigged with the 61 key PA4X since 2016.  It's an outstanding keyboard.

That said, if I were choosing today between a (76 key) PA4X and the Genos..I would choose the Genos.  Here's why.

(1). Voices.  The 4X has very good voices but, for my use, weak on guitars and a few other voices.  From what I've heard so far, Genos has excellent voices across the board.

(2). Styles.  The 4X originally blew me away with its live sound but was missing style types I liked to use.  To my ears, Genos styles are just as lively now and there are many more of the type I use.

(3). 9 in. touchscreen on Genos...just spoiles a person.

(4). Weight.  quite a difference for me.  Genos significantly lighter.

(5).  I really like the Korg Songbook but I'm finding that playlist works as well.

(6).  Editing.  I've found that editing capabilities have improved and are easier for me to use than some of the editing options on the 4X.

(7). Price.  If you look around(there's someone that contributes here), prices of the 4X and Genos are comparable.

All this said, the PA4X is an outstanding arranger.  Had the Genos not come along I'd be gigging with it today and happy with it.  In many ways, I wish I hadn't played the Genos as the last thing I had planned on doing was buying another keyboard.  🤑

I believe considering construction, the PA4X is a bit better built.  Also, the PA4X has deep editing capabilities if you have the time and inclination to learn how to use them.

My $.02 worth.

If you can find a Genos for the price of a PA4X, you'd better jump on it.  Or maybe you aren't finding the best price for the Korg?

I'm guessing the 76 key Korg is less expensive, but how much I don't know.  But if my choice was a 61 key arranger, I'd just keep playing the 4X.  The 76 key Korg is a bit more weight than I want.

And there are other considerations...see original post.

The 4X is a great arranger...if you have one..wonderful.  Just don't go spending time with a Genos.

Here in the US, I'm thinking, even with discounts, the 76 key PA4X is about $1,000 less than Genos.

So I had that wrong.  Sorry.

I brought a Pa4X last June and have just swapped it for a Genos.  Best thing I ever did.  The Pa4x is a great sounding keyboard and the styles are very good but in many areas the Genos is far better.  The Guitars for instance are much better than the Pa4X's and it's easier to use; more logical.

In the USA . . .  anyone paying full MSRP price of Genos is paying way too much . . . .

Contact AudioWorks and you will see that the price differential between Genos and Korg Pax4 is minimal   . . . .

thanks

Anyway you cut it, the Genos is going to run a $1,000 or more than the PA4X.

Genos is wonderful but my take is that Korg prices are very competitive and Yamaha prices are at a premium on higher end products.
