Looking for a suitable style for the song "Scottish Soldier"

I have a Burns Night coming up next month and I have put together a set of Scottish songs. I have styles for all of them, except "Scottish Soldier". This is probably a March style, although none of the ones I have fit the song. "Orchestral Bolero" is also close, bit close enough.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

is this the song?
try this one.you better delete guitars in chord 1+2 or replace them with piano
and in phrase 2 replace the accordion with some vocals.
on my PSR this style is in the folder "world" page 3.
maybe someone else got a 3/4 march?

Panos,

Thank you for the suggestion. I did try that one, but didn't think it sounded right. Listening to the YouTube video, I'm not sure if it is a march or a waltz.

The tune is actually a pipe tune called The Green Hills of Tyrone and it is written in 3/4 time signature, with words added about 100 years later by Andy Stewart, and the name changed. Although it's 3/4, waltz styles don't sound right because it doesn't have the typical lilt of a waltz. I Cant think of a style that would work properly for this song. But I will take a look. I would typically not play a song like this with a style, just piano. In fact truthfully I wouldn't play this song at all unless my arm was being twisted. Heard it being murdered too many times when I played piano in pubs!  ;D
Take my advice and play Ae Fond Kiss and My Luv is Like Red Red Rose instead. Beautiful songs written by Robert Burns, perfect for the occasion, which both work well with simple waltz styles. If you must stray away from Burns, there is a myriad of well known lovely Scottish waltzes which are a joy to play as a medley using one of the waltz styles - I use the country waltz, and just keep it simple - the two I gave you above, plus Over the Sea to Skye,  The Northern Lights of old Aberdeen, Road and the Miles to Dundee, Down in the Glen,..........to name a few.

Mike,

Many thanks for all the advice and recommendations. I have already included some of those in the set list. There is style called "Finland Polka", which I have modified and intend to use for some songs. From a purists point of view, it's probably not too Scottish, but songs such as "Scotland the Brave" go well with it. Please let me know if you would like to try it.

I have modified one too, keithven.
main A+main D have the same drum pattern i got from a midi file.
main B and main C have a more simple drum pattern.
Maybe it works.I have to learn to play the song to be sure...  ???

Panos,

That was the best fitting style I have tried. Many thanks.

I have attached the polka style I modified, so the group can benefit from it.
